Our Community

At The Premodern Body Project, we believe that scholarship thrives through conversation. By fostering an open and inclusive research community, we aim to connect scholars across disciplines, career stages, and geographic boundaries to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and spark new directions in the study of the pre-modern body. Engaging in dialogue allows us to refine our research, discover unexpected connections, and ensure that the study of the body remains dynamic, innovative, and accessible to all. Whether you’re developing new projects or deepening existing inquiries, we invite you to join us in shaping this evolving conversation.

Speakers welcome

If you would like to present your research into the pre-modern body at one of our monthly talks, please submit an abstract of up to 250 words to bodiesandbeing@gmail.com. Talks should be 20 to 30 minutes in length, followed by time for discussion and questions. We welcome speakers from all disciplines and career stages who engage with the pre-modern body in their research. A member of our team will facilitate the online session and moderate the post-talk discussion. Sessions are also recorded, allowing participants to revisit the conversations or catch up at their convenience. If you have any questions, please reach out to us over email.
